When the artifact is animated, it becomes a minion, and thus cannot be carried. The controller of Grösse Poltergeist gets control.
If the unit carrying the animated artifact can also carry minions, who retains control?
Grösse Poltergeist says you gain control, but the game rules say that anyone carrying the artifact gains control. Grösse Poltergiest takes precedence due to the golden rule, and the controller of Grösse Poltergeist gets control.
